Group Home Setting
The Boys and Girls Ranch program is designed for youths between the ages of 12 and 17 who come from situations in which basic life skills were not adequately developed. The program is goal oriented. Length of time in the program may be from 10 to 24 months depending on the ability of the child and family to meet goals. Some residents may remain in the program until high school graduation. The goal of the program is to have each child return home and efforts are made to work with the families to prepare them for the child's return. If these efforts are unsuccessful, the child may remain at the Ranch until emancipation.
An on-site school has been established to provide the residents with a safe learning environment, individualized instruction, and small-group learning experiences tailored to meet the educational and emotional needs of the students. The basic curriculum is enhanced with instruction in life skills, such as goal setting, conflict management, problem solving, critical thinking, communication, money management, etc. Academics are reinforced by practical application in related activities
