How long have you been in business?
We have been in business for nearly 50 years.
What is your primary product or service?
The rental of privately owned motorhomes, 5th wheels and travel trailers
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I have been a licensed NM casualty insurance agent since 1966. I have a bachelors degree at UNM with majors in Spanish and minors in math, German, Journalism, and English. I also have a Liberal Arts degree with honors with the Central NM Community College in Albuquerque, NM. I was born in Albuquerque and never left New Mexico other than making short stays in Idaho during the summer months between 1958 through 1965, working for the U.S. Forest Service in order to earn tuition money for classes at UNM. I love New Mexico and have travelled to nearly all points within it.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
I invented the privately owned RV rental concept in 1975 in Albuquerque, and there have been many startup firms since that time who have adopted my system. Because they don't follow my procedure in detail, most have been unsuccessful. We also deliver and pick-up motorhomes, 5th wheels, and travel trailers throughout New Mexico, whereas most other RV rental firms don't. In addition, we will pick up clients at the Albuquerque International Airport.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Since the owners keep their RVs in their possession and do the orientation, it's not necessary to have a lot stocked with these units. As a result, we are able to rent privately owned units in nearly every state in the Union.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We do not have a public office, and if a client wants to see the motorhome, 5th wheel or travel trailer that they're interested in renting, I provide the name, phone number and address of the owner in order to make an appointment to see the unit. If the renter is satisfied with the RV, then he or she are told to get back to me for contracting.
What type of payments do you accept?
We prefer money orders or checks; however, we do accept credit card payments, too.
Which areas do you service?
We rent to individuals that are traveling throughout the United States and Canada. The majority of our motorhomes and trailers; however, are located throughout New Mexico.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
RvStewartPrivatelyOwnedRentals aka RvStewartRentals is owned by a family corporation named Mexia Enterprises, Inc. and I'm the president. I'm not an absentee president, and run the details of the business. In fact, I answer the phone after hours and on weekends.
What are your hours of operation?
We can be reached between 9:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m. seven days a week.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
A previous renter wrote this: "Dick Stewart was on point with information, contract, and contact. If I had a question, I could call and he was so informative."
