How long have you been in business?
Focus Ink started as a graphic design home business in 1984, and expanded to full service printing in January 1989.
What is your primary product or service?
Full service printing and promotionals.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I was an artist, but did not believe I could succeed professionally, so relegated it as a hobby. I worked in the school, mainly as a speech and language pathologist. When the Mac was released in 1984, I found my medium as an artist.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We print EVERYTHING from walnuts to signs! Most of our processes are earth-friendly, and have been awarded the 2013 Pollution Prevention Award by the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Water Authority. This is a rare honor for a print shop. We are 100% woman-owned, union, and been in business since 1989. We are very service oriented, and can assist with copy writing and graphic design. We are known for our ability to do whatever it takes to get jobs output in a timely fashion. Other print shops (such as Kinkos) regularly send business our way. They tell customers that is anyone can fill unusual requests, Focus Ink can.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location, but have expanded to occupying an increasing percentage of our building.

We are 3 blocks south of Central, 2 east of Washington, at the SW corner of Highland High School, facing Zuni.
What type of payments do you accept?
Most
Which areas do you service?
We have a national following due to our union status and wide capabilities. Most of our business comes from New Mexico.

Monday-Friday, 9-5, and by appointment outside of regular business hours.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
There are 2 we get that I love: This is even better than I imagined, you're my hero.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
I offer 3. Ken Keyes: You cause as much suffering in the world whenever you take offense as when you give it. And from Goerthe: You limit yourself every time you worship a hero, and you limit yourself whenever you did not recognize the genius in those around you.
